Following on from our World Book Day celebrations in April, yesterday we held our County World Book Day Quiz at The Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl.
The Quiz was made up of a set of questions, which then resulted in a tie breaker round for second place.
A massive congratulations to Coety Primary School, who came in first place, and a massive well done to Coychurch Primary School who came in second place.
We also want to say a massive thank you and well done to all the Schools and pupils that were involved.
A big thank you also to the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough, Councillor William Kendall, for attending and presenting the awards to the winners and runners-up.
Another thank you to all Awen Staff that were involved in making the day happen.
Richard Hughes, Chief Executive of Awen Cultural Trust, said:
“It was fantastic to see so many local primary schools participating in what turned out to be a very closely-fought final, resulting in a tie-break situation. Congratulations to Coety Primary School who are our county champions and runners-up Coychurch Primary School. Thanks to our Mayor, Cllr William Kendall for awarding the prizes and impressing us by reading his own poem.
“Even though it is almost 25 years since it first started, this competition continues to go from strength-to-strength, with every primary school in Bridgend county borough invited to participate. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us all to encourage and celebrate the joy of reading and for pupils to represent their school in a county-wide competition.”
We are already excited and looking forward to next year’s Quiz!
