Reducing our carbon footprint at our Awen Libraries

At Awen, we are committed to sustainability. We do this by replacing older light fittings with more energy efficient LEDs across Awen’s buildings.

Most recently, Awen Cultural Trust funded solar panels at Pencoed Library as part of their recent redevelopment work. The library is now running entirely on power from its new solar panels during it’s opening hours. On sunny days, we are even exporting renewable energy back to the grid.

Switching to a renewable source means we are not only saving money on energy costs, but also helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and moving towards net zero.

Another way we are reducing our carbon footprint is by installing LED lighting at Porthcawl Library. On Wednesday 16th August, the library will be closed until Thursday 17th August for the work to be carried out.
