To celebrate the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge participants and medal winners, Awen Cultural Trust will be hosting a celebration party at Maesteg Welfare Park in Maesteg on Saturday 9th September from 11am – 2pm. It will be a fun-filled, family event which is supported by Bridgend County Borough Council, Valleys to Coast, Welsh Government, Arts & Business Cymru, Halo Leisure and Books Council of Wales.

‘Party in the Park’ will include inflatables from Full of Bounce, giant games, balance bikes with Halo, crafts and games with Valleys to Coast and stories and more with Awen Libraries. All activities are provided free of charge.

Richard Hughes, Chief Executive of Awen Cultural Trust, said: ….

“The Summer Reading Challenge is always one of the highlights of the library year. Having had such a great launch event at Bridgend where I saw first-hand the enthusiasm of young people to get reading, it is fitting that we should also celebrate the efforts of all those who completed the challenge or who simply enjoyed being part of it.

This year’s Challenge has brought together a range of partners and we are extremely grateful for their support.

It promises to be a great day and where better to host it than at the wonderful Maesteg Welfare Park.”

Don’t forget to wear your medal on the day, just like your favourite sportsperson!
