Bridgend County Borough Council and Awen Libraries have been working together to set up a new tablet loan scheme for all library members. There will be 20 tablets available for loan, for up to 3 weeks at a time.
Each tablet comes equipped with its own SIM card filled with data, so that borrowers can access the internet without having to have WIFI in their homes. The tablets will also come pre-loaded with apps and helpful links that will help you to get started, including:
- BorrowBox for eBooks and eAudiobooks
- Libby for eMagazines
- Awen Libraries website
- Bridgend County Borough website
The aim of the new scheme is to create greater access to the digital world, whether that’s for online shopping, video-calls to relatives, using one of the free eBook and eMagazine apps from the library, joining an online course, watching funny pet videos on YouTube – there are so many things access to the digital world can offer you, and you will strengthen your computer skills and confidence by simply giving it a go!
All Awen Libraries have Digital Drop-In sessions to show you how to get the most out of your tablet, or we can help you sign up for free IT support with our friends at Digital Communities Wales and Learn Direct.
You need to be a library member to borrow a tablet, but joining the library is completely FREE. Simply visit your local library and the staff members will be happy to assist.
