On Friday 3rd February, the contractor began works to remove the old balustrades on the staircase to the first-floor children’s library and put new ones in – the replacements will be a modern, glass facade that will be safer and also make the stairwell much brighter.
The walls of the meeting room are up, and the glass walls and doors are being delivered soon.
On Wednesday, the priming will begin for a full repaint.
While the work is ongoing, our fabulous team continue to offer a book collection and ordering service from Salem Chapel Vestry. You can also browse a selection of all types of books, get tech help for your own devices, and get small, black and white A4 printing and photocopying jobs done.
The team are running a pop-up library from Pencoed Primary School at the end of the school day every Monday, and our usual Bounce & Rhyme, Storytime and Craft and adult Crafternoon sessions are still happening so get in touch or follow us online for the where and when.
We have an opening for a new reading group and other community interest groups to form and use our new community meeting room.
If you’re interested in starting or being part of a Reading Group, conversational Welsh language group, or have an idea for something different please get in touch on Facebook or email – pencoed.library@awen-wales.com
