Y Llynfi Local and Family History Library in Maesteg houses a substantial collection of research materials for local and family historians.
Certain materials are available only on microfilm or microfiche and we recommend that you reserve a reader before your visit if you intend to use these items. We are unable to undertake extensive research or genealogical searches on behalf of readers but can answer shorter queries by post, telephone or e-mail. Staff offer a free tutorial on the use of material held at the library, with particular reference to the Ancestry website. To book a session, please phone 01656 754859.
We apologise for the inconvenience but access to these resources is limited at the moment. For further information please contact Y Llynfi on 01656 754810.
Bridgend’s local newspaper is an invaluable source for family historians as it has provided details of births, marriages and deaths in the local area since 1866. The library service is undertaking a project to make this information available to researchers via our website and we are now releasing the first fruits of our labours. Simply click on the relevant year in the table below and this will open a PDF document of the data. Please check back over the coming months as we hope to regularly add more indexes to the list.
